Data backups

Never lose your lists! No matter if you change or lose your mobile phone!

1) Create backup

This action creates a backup of all data from your group My Shopping Lists. This includes, for example, the categories, items, prices, shopping lists, recipes and task lists. However, data from other groups, if you use this feature, will not be saved in the backup.
  • Open Lister
  • Click on the icon at the bottom right to navigate to the Settings.
  • Scroll to section Backup & restore
  • Click on Backup
  • The action creates a file with Lister and date in the name and .txt as file extension
  • In the new view you can send the file to your own email address to store it safely

2) Restore backup

This action completely deletes your current data and replaces it with the data from the backup. If you are currently logged in to your Lister account and using the sync feature, this is not possible. To import if, first reinstall Lister and then import the backup. Afterwards you can sign back in to your sync account if you'd like. In the intermediary screen when logging in, you'd probably want to keep your local data. That's the data you just restored from the backup. And to delete the data in the cloud.
  • Make sure that the file is located in the local storage of your device. It is recommended to save the file in the downloads folder
  • Open Lister
  • Click on the icon at the bottom right to navigate to the Settings.
  • Scroll to section Backup & restore
  • Click on Restore
  • Select backup file
  • The backup will be imported
  • After restarting Lister you will see your restored data

3) Create a backup of a single shopping list

  • Open Lister
  • Click on the three dots on the right hand side of the list from which you want to create a backup
  • Click in the menu on Send shopping list
  • In the dialog select Importable shopping list
  • The action creates a file. The file name will include the shopping list's name and today's date. The file extension will be .txt
  • In the new view you can send the file to your own email address to keep it safe
  • You can also send the file to a family member or roommate if you want them to do the shopping
  • If you do this often, it is recommended to use the synchronization- and group feature, which always keeps all lists automatically up to date.

4) Restore a backup of a single shopping list

If it is a backup of a single shopping list, restoring the list will not delete any data.
  • Make sure that the file is located in the local storage of your device. It is recommended to save the file in the downloads folder
  • Open Lister
  • Click on the icon at the bottom right to navigate to the Settings.
  • Scroll to section Backup & restoreScroll
  • Click on Restore
  • Select backup file
  • The backup is imported
